Kelly Osbourne

It was only 9 years ago that MTV introduced us to the hilariously unpredictable, contraversial yet oh-so addictive show 'The Osbournes'.

I think it would be pretty fair to say that Kelly didn't exactly come off too well. She was bratty, short tempered and inappropriate. She favoured clothes that showed off a bit too much skin, layers upon layers of make-up and had a new hair do every week.

When the Osbournes ended we continued to see Kelly in the tabloids not for the right reasons (are you ever in the tabloids for the right reason!?) But it would seem that she has had a dramatic turn around.

She lost a significant amount of weight for TV show 'dancing with the stars' dyed her hair blonde and cut it in what can only be described as a more mainstream style. Her outfit choices have been a lot more conservative while still screaming style and edge.

She is a regular judge on Channel E's weekly show 'Fashion Police' and is currently in the process of shooting a new film in which she plays one third of a girl group.

Her attitude has done a complete 180, she's positive and passionate and really seems to have it 'together'

In a word, Kelly Osbourne is fabulous and here are some pictures to prove it!!

 Simple, elegant, classic and gorgeous

I'll be honest, I don't know who Kim Kardashian is or what she does or why she does it and I don't really care either but in this picture Kelly definately wins! (Grammys 2010)

Spring clean

It's at around this time of year that our wardrobes begins to not quite cut it. It's getting warmer and more humid, yet it can still be rainy and miserable. It's time to clear out your winter pieces and get ready for the long hot summer and if you're anything like me, it is the very worst time of year! I overheat, burn, become drowsy and can't wear my favourite items anymore.

But it's not all bad..

Change of season is a great excuse to clear out your wardrobe and start afresh.

It's also a great time to give yourself a mini-makeover, new trends are hitting the shops, maybe it's time for a new style or look? I just chopped off all my hair ready for the summer heat, requires minimum effort so I don't have to sweat under the heat of my curling tongs or straightning irons!

Most importantly, change of season is the best because it's time to hit the shops! but be careful, it's easy to go crazy and buy up everything you see but this is not the way to do it.

Follow these steps for a successful and sensible (yucky word I know but so important to avoid you wasting your pennies) shopping trip.

1. Clean out your closet

Rid yourself of all the clothes that you never wear or are sick of. If you don't like wearing something you won't feel good in it so get it out of your wardrobe or it will just confuse you everytime you're getting dressed.

Move your winter pieces to the back of your wardrobe or invest in some of those air tight bags and store them under your bed.

A great way of organising your wardrobe is to employ a stylist, not only do they know what suits your body, they don't have the emotional attachment to the clothes like you do.

If it's just wardrobe organisation that you need in the way of drawers, hangers etc either get yoursef to a howards storage world, IKEA or alternatively hire some experts.. Practical Princess send people out to your house to sort out your wardrobe so you don't have to!! it's a great service for those of you that don't really have a clue and shows you how much easier it is to dress when your wardrobe is clean and organised.

2. Make a list

If you don't know what you need when you go shopping, you run the risk of buying things that don't fit with the other clothes you have, which means yet another garment that doesn't get worn..

..so.. make a list of everything that you need. By need I don't mean yet another pair of unnecessarily high heels that will collect dust for the next 3 months, I mean the things you need to fill the gaps in your wardrobe, the things that will complete the outfits you have, that you can't wear because you have nothing to wear them with.

You may need to replace some items that are getting old. There's nothing worse that white tops that have gone grey or black tops that have gone grey for that matter, chuck them out and get new ones.

 3.  Get shopping!

Stick to your list and don't let yourself be distracted by all the shiny, pretty new clothes, you know what you need, make sure you purchase these items first and then, if you have some money left over, feel free to splurge on some great trend pieces as long as you can wear it with at least 2 outfits you already have.

Not sure what you should be wearing or have no idea where to start cleaning out your wardrobe? Hire a stylist, they're not as scary as you think and can be really helpful if you're feeling a bit unpretty, overwhelmed or stuck in a rut and.. oh yeah.. I am one!!!

Style vs Fashion

"There's no difference!" I hear you say? WRONG!!
There is a big difference! Sure you can be fashionable and have style but you can also have style and not be fashionable and you can be fashionable but have no style too! confused? let me explain..

Fashionable; Always follows trends and wears them no matter if they suit them or not. They are likely to overhaul their wardrobe each seaon to fit with current trends and their personal style changes constantly.

Stylish; someone who dresses well for their body shape but doesn't necessarily follow trends. They probably add a few pieces to their wardrobe each season but their style usually remains the same.

There are many different styles including:

The Classic

The name really says it all. Often wears timeless (classic!) pieces. Lots of blacks, whites and neutrals. Owns key pieces like a blazer, great suit, shirts and skirts. Always looks very put together, clean and presentable.

Classic celebs; Jackie Onassis, Cate Blanchett, Grace Kelly

Grunge

Think Nirvana/Kurt Cobain/Courtney Love. It's the look that says "I woke up 5 minutues ago and found this on the floor.. so I chucked it on and I look fabulous!"

Grungey celebs; Pixie Geldof, MK & A Olsen (Sometimes)

Boho

Sienna Miller made it a must but by no means started the look. Otherwise known as 'hippy' Wears lots of denim and fur.

Boho celebs; Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Kate Hudson

Urban/ecclectic

A cross over between grunge and boho. They're experts at wearing things that don't match but somehow manage to make it look great. . How do they do it?!!!

Ecclectic celebs; Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jess Hart, Aggyness Deyn, Alexa Chung

Vintage

Vintage celebs; Dits von teese, Scarlett Johanson

Just plain trashy

Needs no explanation

Trashy celebs; Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Katie Price

Then of course there are the celebs who mix up their styles like Kelly Osbourne, Lily Allen and Florence Welch.

Something I often worry about is that I don't have a particular style of my own. My style, like many other peoples, changes depending on my mood, where I'm going, who I'm going with etc. For example the three days a week that I am at college my style is completely different;
Monday - computer class - I generally wear jeans with oversized shirts channelling the grunge kind of look.
Tuesday - styling class - I wear skirts with pretty tops or dresses, sometimes heels in my best effort to look like a respected stylist and finally
Wednesday - Make- up and hair class - Similar to Tuesdays but a lot more casual.

Other days I mix between vintage clothes, casual dresses, jeans, blazers etc. If you looked in my wardrobe you wouldn't be able to pigeon hole me into a particular style. I play about with fashion and trends but try and incorporate them with things that suit my body shape.

Should people have a particular style? So that when you see a garment you can say "That is sooo Stevie!"

The answer is no.

Variety is the spice of life. If you always look the same you'd be a pretty boring person!

So get your creativity on and mix it up! As long as you are wearing things that suit you it really doesn't matter if you are on trend or not.

Olivia Palermo, she may be a bitch but my god the girl dress. A key example of someone who ALWAYS looks fabulous never looks the same.

Clogs

I don't care what anyone says.. I love 'em!!

Sure you could splurge on some awesome ones like the Chanel ones above but these are $50 from Rubi shoes and they actually aren't bad.

The Miu Miu clogs are fab, they scream individuality and style and only cost about $1500!!!

Still don't believe that clogs are wicked? Check out these celebs rocking the clog look!!

C'mon people.. get into it!!!

Nick Knight

There's a lot of elements that go into making the perfect shot.
Is the make up right? Is every hair in place? How do the garments look? Do they sit right? Are they clean? Do they match? What about the model? How's her body language? What about her expression?

And that's not even the half of it.

On a photoshoot there are many elements to consider, often there may be many people there to make the day run smoothy and according to plan, one person assigned to each task;
Make up artist keeping their eye always on the make up.
Hair person on the hair.
Stylist on the clothes.

But there's one key person we're forgetting. The most important person of all, with the hardest job, that has to keep their eye on all of these elements on top of their own.

The photographer.

I've been doing some research on them and believe that I have found the very best.
He's insanely talented, hugely successful, remarkebly interesting and highly acclaimed in the industry.
His name is Nick Knight and this is some of his work.

This is my absolute favourite because I have looked at it about 300 times and I still can't figure out how he did it!

Nick Knight is a British photographer and director of SHOWstudio.com. He is known for his personal, experimental vision, resulting in work that exists outside the conventions of fashion photography.

Knight was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honours.

Nick Knight is top of the celebrities' photographer wish list. His reputation for pushing boundaries technically and creatively at every opportunity and being at the forefront of innovation is deeply attractive. He has worked on a range of often controversial issues during his career - from racism, disability, ageism, and more recently fat-ism. He continually challenges conventional ideals of beauty.

"I don't want to reflect social change - I want to cause social change."
